Connect PayPal
Let buyers pay with their PayPal balance or a card. You sign in to PayPal to approve the link.
Open PaymentsOn this page
Connect PayPal so buyers can pay with their PayPal balance or a card through PayPal. You can use it on its own or next to Stripe. With both connected, buyers choose at checkout.
Before you start
- You need a PayPal Business account.
- Have your bank and personal details ready.
- There are no API keys to copy. You sign in to PayPal and approve the link.
Connect PayPal
- In your admin, go to Settings → Payments.
- On the PayPal card, click Connect PayPal. If Stripe is already connected, the button says Add PayPal.
- On a phone, the PayPal card is folded. Tap Use PayPal instead or Add PayPal too to open it.
- Sign in to PayPal and approve the link.
- PayPal sends you back to the Payments page. The card shows Connected.
If PayPal flags anything, a box PayPal needs more from you shows on the card. Sort it out in your PayPal account.
Choose which comes first at checkout
With both Stripe and PayPal connected, the Payments page shows First at checkout. Pick the one buyers see on top; the other is right below it.
- Stripe: card, Apple Pay and Google Pay on top, PayPal under it. This is the default.
- PayPal: PayPal on top, card payments under it.
It saves as soon as you pick. Memberships still go through Stripe, since PayPal can't take them.
PayPal and subscriptions
PayPal can't take memberships or other subscriptions on Marketsy. Subscriptions need Stripe. When a cart has a membership, buyers don't see the PayPal button. To sell memberships, connect Stripe as well.

Where your money goes
PayPal payments go straight to your PayPal account. Marketsy takes no commission. PayPal charges its own fees. Click Open PayPal dashboard to see your payments. See When you get your money.

- To remove Marketsy's access in PayPal too, sign in to PayPal and click your profile icon at the top right.
- Under Account Settings, select API Access.
- Under REST API integration, select Manage REST API apps and credentials.
- Select the app linked to Marketsy and remove its permissions.
