Create discount codes

Discount codes give money off to customers who type the code at checkout.

Create a code

1. In your admin, go to Marketing → Discount codes and click New code.
2. Fill in the code:
   • Name: only you see it, like New Year sale.
   • Code: what customers type at checkout. We make one up; change it if you like.
   • Type: Percent off or Amount off.
   • Value: the percent, or the amount in your store's currency.
3. Add limits if you want them:
   • Times it can be used: leave it empty for no limit.
   • Ends on: the day the code stops working. Leave it empty and it never ends.
   • Only for some products: turn it on and pick the Products. When it's off, the code works on everything in your store.
4. Add a Note, only you see it if it helps you remember what the code is for.
5. Click Save.

How codes work at checkout

Customers type the code under Have a discount code? and click Apply.

• Capital letters don't matter: SAVE10 and save10 are the same code.
• A percent code takes that percent off each product it covers.
• An amount code comes off the products in the cart, up to their total.
• If a product has a sale price, the code comes off the sale price.
• Codes never take money off delivery, or off an upsell offer.

When a code doesn't work

If customers see no code box at all, turn on the Discount code box (see the top of this page).

Manage your codes

The list shows each code's Discount, how many times it was Used (with the limit, if any) and when it Expires. A date that has passed shows in red. Click Edit to change a code, or open the ⋯ menu to Copy code or Delete.

Deleting is immediate: customers who type that code get no discount from then on.
