Open Domain and publishing
On this page

You can run your store on a domain you own instead of the free marketsy.ai address. You need a paid plan. On the Domain page it takes four steps: choose the domain, point it to Marketsy, add SSL, publish.

No domain yet? Buy one at any registrar, like Namecheap or GoDaddy.

Choose your domain

  1. In your admin, go to Online store → Domain.
  2. Under Choose an address, pick Your own domain. On the Free plan it's marked Paid plan and opens the plans.
  3. Type your domain without www, like yourstore.com. It saves as you type.
  4. Using a sub-domain, like shop.yourstore.com? Tick It's a sub-domain, like shop.yourstore.com and type the whole name.

Point your domain to Marketsy

Sign in where you bought your domain and open its DNS settings. Add the records shown under Point your domain to Marketsy. Use the copy button next to the IP address.

Your domainTypeNameValue
yourstore.comA@The IP shown on the page
yourstore.comAwwwThe IP shown on the page
shop.yourstore.comAshopThe IP shown on the page

A domain like yourstore.com needs both records. A sub-domain needs one, named with its first part.

Back on the Domain page, choose Check again. Each record shows Found or Waiting. Changes can take up to an hour to show.

Secure with SSL

When every record shows Found, Marketsy adds a free SSL certificate, so your store opens with https and the padlock. It can take a minute. When it's done, the step says "Done: your address has the padlock and https."

If it says Not added yet, see Domain not working? Fix DNS and SSL.

Publish

Tick I agree to the Marketsy terms and conditions and choose Publish store. You can publish on your own domain only after its records are found and SSL is done. See Publish your store.

Your store's address

With yourstore.com, your store's address is www.yourstore.com. With a sub-domain, it's the sub-domain itself.

Until SSL is done, your store's links keep using the free marketsy.ai address. If you change the domain later, SSL starts again for the new one.
