Recently, Igor Boky (https://x.com/botanMan/) analyzed Gumroad to explore product types and pricing, as it serves as a good reflection of the broader digital products market. His findings were quite interesting. For example:Notion templates make up about a quarter of all products on Gumroad. Another significant category is VRChat models.
Lower prices don't necessarily lead to more sales (see the explanation below).
Free products are "sold" far more often than paid ones.
A few words about pricing: this was the most unexpected part for me. There is a noticeable distribution of prices and a correlation between the number of sales and price points. Among Notion templates, the most popular ones after the free options are priced at $5. The second most popular price is $19.99 (wat 😲). Interestingly, products priced at $4.57, which is close to $5, sell 10x (❗️️) less than those priced at $5.Whether or not this trend makes sense to you, it’s definitely something worth considering.
